He previewed it, played it then previewed it some more so it was only fair that we gave our resident fanboy Ben the opportunity to review Mortal Kombat X too. Is it a Kontender or a punching bag?

  • Mortal Kombat X is the tenth instalment in the well-known fighting series, and it made its first public appearance at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in June last year. Four new characters were revealed along with two others in a trailer – and with over eleven-million views at the time, this was the third highest-watched announcement video on YouTube in the second quarter of 2014. It goes to show you just how many Mortal Kombat fans there are out there.

I count myself among their number and I’m not ashamed to admit I’m a huge fanboy. At the EGX event in September I was not only able to spend a decent amount of time with the title but also go a few rounds with Phil, and I believed then that it was going to be something really special; but has my opinion changed at all now I’ve had a chance to spend some proper time with the game? Why not find out – by watching our first video review below!

As you can tell from the video, Mortal Kombat X an outstanding game and one that should be included on the 1001 list without question. It offers a deep and robust fighting system with tons to unlock and multiple game modes to keep you coming back for more. Throw in a fully fleshed-out story mode, and this title becomes arguably the greatest in the Mortal Kombat series.

    Our opinion: BUY IT NOW!
